On 23rd July, 2014, the Interim Jubba Administration (IJA) received the devastating news that MP Sado Ali Warsame, legendary musician, patriotic leader, Parliamentarian, celebrated performer and Somali icon was assassinated by assailants in Mogadishu, Somalia.
A unique voice of many voiceless Somalis, revolutionary brave women, her ability to remind, tell and continuously communicate with many Somalis artistically would be missed.
The Interim Jubba Administration stands in solidarity with the Somali people in this time of national mourning.
The Somali nation has lost a national hero who inspired generations and left an impenetrable mark in all of our social and political lives.
The IJA will also like to extend our deepest condolences to the close family and friends of Saado Ali and we stand united and in solidarity with them as we mourn her untimely death together.
The IJA demands immediate and impartial full investigation by the Federal Government of Somalia into this tragedy and bring the culprits behind this and previous cowardice act of violence against one of our most beloved singer to the folds of justice.
The IJA in consultation with community leaders will honour Saado Ali Warsame for her contribution to our nation and to peace in Jubbaland and will release the details of that event at a later date.
Lastly, the IJA would like to remind all peace-loving Somalis that they must stand in the face of adversity by condemning those who seek to destabilize our peace process and must not give into despair and hopelessness.
