MOGADISHU: Islamist militants blasted their way into a two popular hotels in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Friday just after Afur, killing at sevaral people witnesses said to puntlandi.
Three of the attackers, members of the Al-Qaeda-linked group al-Shabab, were shot dead by Amisom forces.
Police said forces from Amisom Forces stormed the Weheliye hotel but attackers control most of the building, and killed 7 people in Siyaad Hotel.
“Most parts of the hotels are in the hands of the militant now but there is sporadic gunfire and grenades hurled from the windows of Siyaad hotel,” a police officer, told Puntlandi.
At least 19 people were killed at Hotel Weheliye and Siyaad Hotel in central Mogadishu on Friday, Other sources told puntlandi.com
